Direct-Service Volunteer Opportunity | Specialized Training Required
Hospital Advocacy Team volunteers work directly with survivors of domestic and sexual violence. As part of an on-call team, volunteers respond to night and weekend requests from area hospitals to meet with survivors and provide support, information and connections to SPARCC’s free and confidential services.
Because this role involves direct contact with survivors, Hospital Advocacy Team volunteers are required to complete 60 hours of domestic violence and sexual assault training before serving.
Training includes:
The three-day in-person training is offered approximately 3–4 times per year.
Resale Shop Volunteer Opportunity | Flexible Scheduling
Volunteer at the SPARCC Treasure Chest and help turn donated goods into support for SPARCC’s free and confidential programs and services.
Volunteers assist with a variety of activities, including accepting and organizing donations, pricing merchandise, assisting with sales and helping keep the store organized and welcoming.
Volunteer weekly, monthly or as needed. Scheduling is coordinated monthly, and a year-round commitment is not required.

High school and college students can make a difference by helping SPARCC raise awareness, promote healthy relationships, and connect young people with important resources and support.
Student volunteers may have opportunities to participate in community outreach, support SPARCC events and awareness campaigns, help create youth-focused messaging and social media content, assist with special projects, and share ideas for reaching other young people in our community.Students interested in taking a more active role may also have the opportunity to participate in SPARCC’s Youth Community Action Team and help shape peer-led prevention initiatives and future youth engagement efforts.Whether you’re looking to give back, earn volunteer or service hours, build leadership experience, or use your skills and creativity to make an impact, we’d love to hear from you.
At this time, the Hospital Advocacy Team is the only advocacy volunteer opportunity available. On-call volunteers respond to night and weekend requests from hospitals in Sarasota, Venice, Englewood, and Northport, meeting with sexual and domestic violence survivors to provide information, support, and resources regarding SPARCC services.
