SPARCC welcomes people with diverse backgrounds and skills to enrich our programs. It takes an entire community to make a difference and we invite you to become involved in our volunteer program. All skill levels are appreciated and all volunteers are considered advocates for social change by providing community education, outreach support, crisis intervention and fundraising support.
Volunteers are needed to assist in answering hotline calls on weekdays at outreach offices, and occasionally during nights and weekends at the shelter.
SPARCC volunteers and advocates provide assistance and support to those seeking injunctions for protection at the courthouse. Volunteers are needed to serve as court advocates every Tuesday and Wednesday from 9-2 pm.
Volunteers are needed to help with client intake, data entry, filing, special projects, desktop publishing, and correspondence (weekdays/morning or afternoon). Offices in Sarasota, Venice and Arcadia.
Volunteers are needed at the Sarasota Outreach Office for administrative support. Duties may include filing, mailings, special projects, desktop publishing, and correspondence (weekdays/morning or afternoon).
On-call teams respond to night and weekend requests from area hospitals to meet with sexual and domestic violence victims at the hospital to provide information and support regarding SPARCC services.
Volunteers are needed to assist with child care while mothers attend support groups and seminars.
Volunteers needed to staff our donation/resale shop (open Mon – Sat, 10:00 am-4:00 pm) for either morning (10 am-1pm) or afternoon shifts (1pm – 4pm) weekly, monthly, or as needed. Scheduling conducted monthly; year-round assistance NOT a requirement. Shop is located at 1426 Fruitville Road, Sarasota.
Volunteers at the shelter help answer the hotline calls at night and weekends, and can be asked to help with meal preparation, children’s activities, etc.
Volunteers needed on a monthly basis to sort cell phones. Some cell phones are re-programmed to be used as 911 phones, while others are packaged and sent off for recycling (SPARCC receives funds for recycled phones).
Our Go Getters team assists SPARCC in picking up donations of food, diapers, and other items in the community.
The SPARCC Auxiliary is a fundraising arm of the organization that meets on a regular basis to plan fundraising events and raise awareness for SPARCC. Annual fundraisers include a fashion show, golf tournaments, family-friendly events, a black-tie gala, and others. This group also conducts social events for members and helps educate the community on SPARCC’s mission. For more information on the SPARCC Auxiliary, click here.
